What to expect from the course
You begin with two days of Dinghy sailing, great fun and provides fundamental sailing skills.
Next, you progress to our 40′ yachts for two weeks of hands-on, practical training followed by RYA Day Skipper Theory. As the course progresses, you venture offshore to learn how to sail, navigate and take charge of a yacht offshore.
Becoming a competent Yachtmaster Offshore sailor requires good leadership, management, and problem-solving skills. A key part of our Offshore and Ocean courses is to teach you how to manage the yacht.
We add a two-day, learn-to-race package to understand how to use spinnakers and the art of yacht racing.
The final stage of the Yachtmaster Offshore Course is the final exam prep week, culminating in the RYA Yachtmaster Offshore exam.

Key points
The Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate is the most popular qualification, the gateway to employment. It provides an excellent starting point when entering the yachting industry as a professional skipper on yachts under 24m or as a Deckhand on a Superyacht.
If working as a professional is your choice, we recommend adding STCW Basic Safety Training. STCW Basic Safety Training is the standard for professional skipper and crew. Adding STCW will allow you to apply for the RYA Master of Yachts 200 Gross Tonnes.
We would advise all customers to complete the ENG1 medical before enrolling on this course. The ENG1 Medical is a requirement for commercial endorsement. Without it, you cannot work as a professional skipper.
Once qualified as a Yachtmaster Offshore, you must apply for commercial endorsement through the RYA.
Unless you are an Australian or New Zealand resident, then you will need a visa to travel to Australia. You can apply for most visas online. The application process is quick and easy. Please click here for more information on what visa to apply for.
